How Do I Delete My Instagram Account on My iPhone?
Delete your Instagram on iPhone through Account Center in Settings, or via Safari at Instagram's dedicated deletion page.
To delete your Instagram account on iPhone, open the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap the menu icon in the top right, then navigate to Settings and Privacy, then Account Center, then Personal Details, then Account Ownership and Control, and tap Deactivation or Deletion.
From there, select the account you want to delete, choose 'Delete Account' (not Deactivate), and tap Continue. Instagram will ask you to select a reason for leaving and enter your password to confirm. Your account enters a 30-day grace period during which you can log back in to cancel the deletion.
If you do not see the delete option in the app, you can also delete through Safari on your iPhone. Open Safari, go to instagram.com, log in, then visit instagram.com/accounts/remove/request/permanent/. Follow the prompts to confirm deletion.
During the 30-day grace period, your account is deactivated and hidden from other users, but your data still exists on Instagram's servers. If you log in within 30 days, the deletion is cancelled. After 30 days, your account and all associated data are permanently removed.
Before deleting, consider downloading your data. Go to Settings and Privacy, then Account Center, then Your Information and Permissions, then Download Your Information. This lets you save a copy of all your photos, videos, messages, and profile data.
Practical takeaway: Delete through the app's Account Center or via Safari. Download your data first, and remember you have 30 days to change your mind after initiating deletion.
